📌 📌 কীভাবে বাক্য সংশোধন করবেন?

Correction of Sentences-এ একটি ভুল বাক্য দেওয়া হয় এবং সেটি সংশোধন করতে বলা হয়।

ভুল হতে পারে: Subject-Verb Agreement, Tense, Pronoun, Article, Preposition, Conjunction, Word Order, Redundancy ইত্যাদিতে।

সংশোধন করার ধাপ:

ধাপ ১: Subject খুঁজুন — Singular না Plural?

ধাপ ২: Verb-এর Tense ও Form চেক করুন

ধাপ ৩: Article (a/an/the) সঠিক আছে কিনা দেখুন

ধাপ ৪: Pronoun Case সঠিক কিনা চেক করুন

ধাপ ৫: Preposition সঠিক কিনা দেখুন

ধাপ ৬: কোনো Redundancy বা Tautology আছে কিনা খুঁজুন

Part A: Subject-Verb Agreement — কর্তা-ক্রিয়া সামঞ্জস্য

নিয়ম 1: Singular Subject → Singular Verb

Singular Subject-এর সাথে Singular Verb বসাতে হবে।

1. ✗ He go to school every day.

He goes to school every day.

3rd Person Singular → goes (s যোগ)

2. ✗ The boy do not like tea.

The boy does not like tea.

3rd Person Singular Negative → does not

3. ✗ She don't speak English.

She doesn't speak English.

3rd Person Singular Negative → doesn't

নিয়ম 2: দুটি Subject 'and' দিয়ে যুক্ত → Plural Verb

'and' দিয়ে দুটি ভিন্ন Subject যুক্ত হলে Plural Verb বসে।

4. ✗ Rahim and Karim is best friends.

Rahim and Karim are best friends.

দুজন → Plural → are

5. ✗ The teacher and the students was present.

The teacher and the students were present.

দুটি আলাদা 'the' → দুজন → were

নিয়ম 3: 'and' হলেও একই ব্যক্তি/বস্তু → Singular Verb

একটি 'the' দিয়ে একই ব্যক্তি/বস্তু বোঝালে Singular Verb।

6. ✗ The poet and philosopher are dead.

The poet and philosopher is dead.

একটি 'the' → একই ব্যক্তি → is

7. ✗ Bread and butter are my breakfast.

নিয়ম 4: Either/Neither/Or/Nor — কাছের Subject অনুযায়ী Verb

Correlative Conjunction-এ Verb কাছের Subject অনুসরণ করে।

9. ✗ Either he or his friends is guilty.

Either he or his friends are guilty.

কাছের Subject 'friends' Plural → are

10. ✗ Neither the players nor the coach were ready.

Neither the players nor the coach was ready.

কাছের Subject 'coach' Singular → was

11. ✗ Not only she but also her sisters is coming.

কাছের Subject 'sisters' Plural → are

নিয়ম 5: Each/Every/Either/Neither/Everyone → Singular Verb

এই Indefinite Pronoun/Adjective-গুলো সর্বদা Singular Verb নেয়।

নিয়ম 6: Many a + Singular Noun → Singular Verb

Many a সবসময় Singular Noun Singular Verb নেয়।

নিয়ম 7: One of the + Plural Noun → Singular Verb

One (Subject) Singular, তাই Singular Verb।

নিয়ম 8: Police/Cattle/People/Gentry → সবসময় Plural

এগুলো দেখতে Singular কিন্তু Plural Verb নেয়।

নিয়ম 9: Mathematics/Physics/News → Singular; Trousers/Scissors → Plural

Subject names ও -ics words সাধারণত Singular; paired objects সবসময় Plural।

Mathematics (subject name) → Singular → is

news → সবসময় Singular → is

নিয়ম 10: A number of → Plural; The number of → Singular

এই দুটির পার্থক্য পরীক্ষায় প্রায়ই আসে।

নিয়ম 11: With / Along with / As well as / Including → মূল Subject অনুযায়ী

এই phrase-গুলো Subject পরিবর্তন করে না।

নিয়ম 12: Distance, Time, Weight, Amount → Singular Verb

পরিমাণ একক হিসেবে বোঝালে Singular Verb।

দূরত্ব (পরিমাণ) → Singular → is

Part B: Tense Errors — কালের ভুল সংশোধন

নিয়ম 13: Past Tense-এ Signal Word ও Tense সামঞ্জস্য

Yesterday/ago/last/in (past year) → Simple Past।

33. ✗ I have seen him yesterday.

I saw him yesterday.

yesterday → Simple Past → saw

34. ✗ She has gone to Dhaka last week.

She went to Dhaka last week.

last week → Simple Past → went

35. ✗ He has died in 1971.

He died in 1971.

in 1971 = নির্দিষ্ট সময় → Simple Past

নিয়ম 14: Just/Already/Yet/Ever/Never → Present Perfect

এই Signal Words Present Perfect দাবি করে।

just → Present Perfect → has just left

37. ✗ I never went to London.

I have never been to London.

never + lifetime experience → Present Perfect

নিয়ম 15: অতীতে দুটি কাজে আগেরটি → Past Perfect

Past Perfect (had + V3) অতীতে আগে ঘটা কাজের জন্য।

আগে মৃত্যু → had died

40. ✗ She told me that she finished the work.

She told me that she had finished the work.

বলার আগেই শেষ → had finished

41. ✗ After she ate, she went to bed.

খাওয়া আগে → had eaten

নিয়ম 16: Universal Truth → সবসময় Simple Present

Past Tense-এ বললেও চিরসত্য Simple Present-এ থাকে।

42. ✗ The teacher said the earth moved around the sun.

The teacher said the earth moves around the sun.

চিরসত্য → Simple Present → moves

43. ✗ She told us that water froze at 0°C.

She told us that water freezes at 0°C.

বৈজ্ঞানিক সত্য → Simple Present → freezes

নিয়ম 17: Time/Conditional Clause-এ Future-এর বদলে Present

When/if/until/before/after-এর পরে Future Tense নিষিদ্ধ।

when-clause → Simple Present → arrives

45. ✗ If she will come, I will go.

If she comes, I will go.

if-clause → Simple Present → comes

46. ✗ Wait here until he will return.

নিয়ম 18: No sooner...than / Hardly...when → Past Perfect

এই Structures-এ Inverted Past Perfect বাধ্যতামূলক।

48. ✗ No sooner did he leave when it rained.

No sooner + had + V3...than

49. ✗ Hardly he sat when the bell rang.

Hardly had he sat when the bell rang.

দুটি ক্রিয়াই Past Tense-এ

নিয়ম 19: 'It is time' + Past Simple

It is time / It is high time + Subject + Past Simple Verb।

নিয়ম 20: Stative Verbs কখনো Continuous হয় না

Know/love/have/believe/want ইত্যাদি Stative Verb।

Part C: Article Errors — Article-সংক্রান্ত ভুল সংশোধন

নিয়ম 21: Vowel Sound-এর আগে 'an' বসে

Vowel Sound (a, e, i, o, u উচ্চারণ)-এর আগে 'an'

honest-এ 'h' নীরব → Vowel Sound 'o' → an

নিয়ম 22: Superlative Degree-এর আগে 'the' বসে

Superlative Adjective সবসময় 'the' দাবি করে।

নিয়ম 23: Ordinal Number-এর আগে 'the' বসে

First, second, third ইত্যাদি Ordinal-এর আগে 'the'।

নিয়ম 24: Unique বা Particular বস্তুর আগে 'the' বসে

পৃথিবীতে একটিমাত্র এবং পরিচিত বস্তুর আগে 'the'।

নিয়ম 25: School/Church/Hospital — Article ব্যবহার / বর্জন

উদ্দেশ্য অনুযায়ী Article বসে বা বসে না।

Purpose-এর জন্য → Article নেই: go to school, go to bed, go to church, go to hospital, go to prison

Physical building-এর জন্য → Article আছে: go to the school (ভবনটিতে), go to the hospital (ভবনটিতে)

✓ He goes to school every day. (শিক্ষার্থী হিসেবে)

✓ He went to the school to meet the principal. (ভবনে)

✓ She is in hospital. (রোগী হিসেবে, British)

✓ She is in the hospital. (American English, সবসময়)

শিক্ষার্থী হিসেবে যাওয়া → Article নেই

নিয়ম 26: Proper Noun ও Plural Noun-এর আগে সাধারণত Article নেই

কিন্তু নির্দিষ্ট কিছু Proper Noun-এ 'the' বসে।

Part D: Pronoun Errors — সর্বনামের ভুল সংশোধন

নিয়ম 27: Preposition-এর পরে Objective Case

Preposition-এর পরে me/him/her/them/us — Subject Case নয়।

Preposition 'between' → Objective Case → me

নিয়ম 28: Reflexive Pronoun Subject হতে পারে না

Myself/himself/herself Subject হিসেবে ব্যবহার হয় না।

নিয়ম 29: Comparison-এ 'than/as'-এর পরে Subject Pronoun

Formal English-এ Comparison-এ Subject Pronoun।

Comparative-এ 'more' এবং '-er' একসাথে নয়।

নিয়ম 39: Superlative Comparison-এ 'else' বা 'other' ব্যবহার

নিজেকে দলের মধ্যে তুলনা করতে 'other/else' যোগ করতে হয়।

তুলনায় নিজেকে বাদ দিতে 'other'

নিয়ম 41: Adjective vs Adverb — বাক্যে ভূমিকা

Adjective Noun/Pronoun বিশেষিত করে; Adverb Verb/Adj/Adverb বিশেষিত করে।

Verb 'speaks' বিশেষিত → Adverb → fluently

নিয়ম 42: hard vs hardly — অর্থের পার্থক্য

hard = কঠোরভাবে; hardly = প্রায় না (scarcely)।

কঠোরভাবে = hard (Adverb)

নিয়ম 43: Comparative Degree-এ 'than' বাধ্যতামূলক

Comparative Adjective-এর পরে তুলনার জন্য 'than'।

Part G: Conjunction Errors — সংযোজক অব্যয়ের ভুল

নিয়ম 44: Although / Though এবং But — একসাথে ব্যবহার নিষিদ্ধ

যেকোনো একটি ব্যবহার করুন।

although + but একসাথে নয়

নিয়ম 45: Because / Since এবং So — একসাথে ব্যবহার নিষিদ্ধ

একটি কারণ ও একটি ফলাফলের জন্য একটি Conjunction যথেষ্ট।

because + so একসাথে নয়

120. ✗ Since she was busy so she did not call.

নিয়ম 46: No sooner...than / Scarcely...when / Hardly...when

এগুলোর Pair সঠিক রাখতে হবে।

নিয়ম 47: Both...and / Either...or / Neither...nor

Correlative Conjunction-এর Pair সঠিক রাখতে হবে।

Lest-এর পরে should + V1; কোনো Negative নয়।

Part H: Double Negative ও Redundancy

নিয়ম 49: Double Negative — দুটি Negative মানে Positive

একটি বাক্যে একটিই Negative ব্যবহার করুন।

Double Negative → anything (not nothing)

129. ✗ She hasn't never been to London.

hasn't + never = Double Negative → remove hasn't

নিয়ম 50: Redundancy (অতিরিক্ততা) — অপ্রয়োজনীয় শব্দ বাদ দিন

একই অর্থ দুইবার বলা Tautology বা Redundancy।
