১. ভূমিকা: Embedded Question কী?
Embedded Question (বা Indirect Question) হলো এমন একটি প্রশ্ন যা অন্য একটি বাক্যের ভেতরে বসে থাকে — যেমন একটি বড় Noun Clause। সাধারণ (Direct) Question যেভাবে জিজ্ঞেস করা হয়, Embedded Question সেভাবে নয়; এখানে প্রশ্নের Word Order বদলে যায় এবং Auxiliary Verb Subject-এর আগে আসে না।
💡 সহজ পরীক্ষা: বাক্যে 'I know', 'Can you tell me', 'I wonder', 'Do you know' এর মতো expression আছে? তাহলে পরের অংশটি Embedded Question — এখানে সরাসরি প্রশ্নের Word Order চলবে না। |

Direct Yes/No প্রশ্নকে Embedded করতে whether অথবা if ব্যবহার করা হয়। Auxiliary Verb বাদ পড়ে এবং Normal Word Order আসে।

৭. Question Mark (?)-এর নিয়ম — অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ
Embedded Question-এ '?' থাকবে কি না তা নির্ভর করে Main Clause-এর ধরনের উপর, Embedded Question-এর উপর নয়।

৯.১ Subject হিসেবে
26. What she said surprised everyone. — সে যা বলল তা সবাইকে অবাক করল।

৯.২ Object হিসেবে

৯.৩ Complement হিসেবে

৯.৪ Preposition-এর Object হিসেবে

৯.৫ Infinitive-এর সাথে Embedded Question

১০. Tricky ও Uncommon নিয়মাবলী
Rule TR-1: 'Do you know who he is?' vs 'Do you know who is he?'
যখন Main Clause নিজেই একটি প্রশ্ন (Do you know…?), তখনো Embedded Question-এ Normal Order বসে:
✗ Do you know who is he? → ✓ Do you know who he is? (Embedded-এ Normal Order)
✗ Can you tell me where does she work? → ✓ Can you tell me where she works? (does বাদ; Normal Order)
✗ Do you know what time is it? → ✓ Do you know what time it is? (Normal Order)
Rule TR-2: Wh-word + ever → Free Relative Clause (Embedded)
whoever, whatever, wherever, whenever, however — এগুলোও Embedded Question তৈরি করতে পারে:
43. Whatever you decide, I will support you. — তুমি যাই সিদ্ধান্ত নাও, আমি সমর্থন করব।
44. Whoever calls, tell them I am not home. — যেই ফোন করুক, বলো আমি নেই।
45. I'll go wherever you go. — তুমি যেখানে যাবে আমি সেখানে যাব।
Rule TR-3: Embedded Question vs Relative Clause — 'that' এর পার্থক্য

'what' বা 'how' দিয়ে Exclamation হলে Word Order সরাসরি থাকে না; কিন্তু Embedded-এ Normal Order:

Rule TR-6: Reporting Verb + Embedded Question — No 'that'
Reporting Verb (ask, wonder, know)-এর পরে Embedded Question আসলে 'that' বসে না:

✗ She asked that who called. → ✓ She asked who called. ('that' + WH-word একসাথে নয়)
Rule TR-7: Double Embedded Question
একটি Embedded Question-এর মধ্যে আরো একটি থাকতে পারে:
46. I know that she wonders where he went. — আমি জানি যে সে ভাবছে সে কোথায় গেছে।
47. Tell me if you know who called you. — বলো তুমি কি জানো কে তোমাকে ফোন করেছিল।
Rule TR-8: 'I wonder if' — Very Polite Request
'I wonder if' বা 'I was wondering if/whether' দিয়ে অত্যন্ত বিনীত অনুরোধ করা হয়:
