১. Idiom ও Phrase — সংজ্ঞা ও পার্থক্য

Idiom (ইডিয়ম) কী?

সংজ্ঞা: এমন একটি শব্দগুচ্ছ (group of words) যার সামগ্রিক অর্থ এর প্রতিটি শব্দের আক্ষরিক অর্থ থেকে সম্পূর্ণ আলাদা। Idiom মুখস্থ করতে হয়, অনুমান করা যায় না।

Definition: An idiom is a phrase or expression whose meaning cannot be understood from the literal meanings of the individual words.

Phrase (ফ্রেজ) কী?

সংজ্ঞা: শব্দগুচ্ছ যা একটি নির্দিষ্ট অর্থ প্রকাশ করে এবং বাক্যে একটি বিশেষ ভূমিকা পালন করে। Phrase-এর অর্থ সাধারণত শব্দগুলো থেকে বোঝা যায়।
